Work a day on the fields or take on a patronage for method development.

Work on the fields

You pick calories and vitamins from the soil or the tree, learn how we grow, and take some of the harvest home. We garden together, without a club structure.

You usually sign up yourself when you have time. Many people come every week on a fixed day.

  1. Pick your day in the Calendly calendar.
  2. Write your hours in "Your message" (including times other than 08:30).
  3. Confirm with "Book appointment". You receive an email.
  4. Come to the farm at the time given. If something comes up, change the time via the link in the confirmation email.

Bring your own wellingtons, gloves, work trousers (side pockets help) and weatherproof clothes if you can. Spare clothes are on the farm.

We usually cook lunch together. That can fall through. Bring a small snack. Drink enough and take breaks; you pace your own effort. Insurance is the participant's responsibility.

Before bad weather or when there is a lot to plant or harvest, the day is tight. Then there is little time for long one-to-one questions. We explain the work so the cropping system makes sense. You learn faster if you come regularly.

Meeting point unless agreed otherwise: SlowGrow, Im Eichhof 1, 8617 Mönchaltorf. Map.

Patronage

Income from patronages pays for developing and applying growing methods: food production with soil care and species diversity. Since 2013 we have put time, money and materials into how we treat the humus layer.

Support SlowGrow with one of the four levels. The form goes to info@slowgrow.ch. Transfer to the account below, with the chosen level as the payment reference.

CHF 150 / year

Culinary soils

Humus and root space: we feed soil life with fresh organic matter. Mulch feeds the soil. The method aims for soil that is more fertile after harvest than before sowing.

CHF 150 / year

Method development

Small trial plots, observation, unbiased trials. The income pays for time and materials for new growing methods.

CHF 100 / year

Edible cover crops

Cover crops from many plant families, with edible species added. We use them to find alternatives to chemical weed control.

CHF 200 / year

Machinery

Equipment for planting into mulch, direct seeding after cover crops, and other mechanisation that spares soil life.
